I am so happy you found my blog!
My name is Julia Frey, and The Veg Connection is my space to share my favourite vegetarian recipes with the world!
I’ve been creating, photographing and writing about recipes since 2012, and have loved every moment of it! Having worked in professional kitchens and fed my family for so many years, I feel that I have a lot to share!
Why vegetarian?
I’ve been bringing vegetarian food into my families diet more and more over the last few years. It has happened gradually as we have tried to reduce our carbon footprint, reduce our food budget and make healthier choices.
It turns out that vegetarian food can be incredibly delicious and complex, with endless variety and satisfying flavours. The more vegetarian food we eat, the more we love it!
I started The Veg Connection to share my favourite vegetarian recipes with the world. I want to encourage more people to choose vegetarian food, and to spread the word that you do not need meat to make delicious, satisfying meals.
Where did you learn to cook?
I was raised in a home that took food very seriously, and started cooking myself when I was very young. I had the opportunity to train and work in a professional kitchen with some amazing cooks. This is when I started to sharpen my skills through new techniques and understanding how to bring flavours together into a delicious meal.
Through travel around Asia and Europe, I’ve learned new cuisines and approaches to food. Through cooking courses in Italy, France and the UK, I’ve learned even more methods that I’ve taken into my own kitchen.
I love to learn from top chefs and experiencing food in other parts of the world. There is so much diversity out there, and I love to bring as much as I can into my own food!
